Top holiday destinations for UK travellers

Published on by Izabella

You know where your favourite spots are to take a holiday, but where is everyone else going?

Whether you enjoy laying low near home or don't mind splurging on a trans-oceanic flight to the other side of the world, there is no doubt that Britons love to travel, experience new cultures and well, see the world.

This year we aren't feeling the financial crunch we did last year, and from the first quarter we can already see a huge increase in travel and tourism. Local destinations are falling behind as the average Briton is throwing last year's "stay-cation" out the window. If doesn't have to take months of planning to take a trip, there are so many last minute cheap flights out there, especially from London, Edinburgh, Manchester and even Newcastle.

So, where is everyone going?

Here are the most popular destinations for UK travellers, have you been to any of them? Where would you like to go for your next holiday?

  1. Malaga, Spain - sunny, Spanish and coastal... what more needs to be said?
  2. Tenerife, Spain - for those whole like sunny, Spanish, coastal... on an island!
  3. Alicante, Spain - okay, we get it. Britons love Spanish beaches.
  4. Orlando, USA - home to Disney theme parks, it's an ideal family spot.
  5. Dalaman, Turkey - skiing, hiking, scuba diving... it's a trendy place with a lot of culture to offer.
  6. Faro, Portugal - a very modern city with a nightlife worth bragging about.
  7. New York, USA - mostly due to the masses of cheap flights between JFK and Heathrow.
  8. Cairo, Egypt - warm in winter, the cultural aspects of this capital never cease to lure.
  9. Geneva, Switzerland - home of the UN, this is a beautiful, clean and trendy city.
  10. Bangkok, Thailand - food, culture, parties... there is a lot happening in this Thai capital.
