The secrets to being a pro traveller

Published on by Izabella

Everyone knows at least one person who travels a lot. They make it look so easy to zip off to the airport for a short city break, can always pack for two weeks in a carry-on, never seem to suffer from jet lag and are just so cultured. How do they do it? Listen up, because I'm going to share a few secrets with you on how you can look like a pro traveller. It's easy!

Reading a map

If you really want to look like a pro traveller, then it's a good idea to learn how to read a map. Pro travellers never get lost. Here's the secret though. It's a lot more important to just play it cool when you're lost. Relax and make it appear you're taking a different route on purpose. The reality is that even with a GPS in hand and directions in hand, you can get lost. As soon as you realize you're totally not on course, enjoy the adventure!

Packing for your trip

A lot of travellers struggle with packing too little or too much (usually too much). With so many airlines charging for checked luggage, it's essential to know how to pack sensibly for every trip in a single carry-on. While most will say it's all in the bag, I'll tell you there's no such thing as a miracle bag or a Mary Poppin's bag. Get yourself a packing strategy instead. Create a general packing list and then adjust it for each trip. Think about your last holidays, did you forget something? Add it to the list. Brought something you didn't use? Leave it at home.

Eating abroad

Pro travellers make it all look so easy. They eat anything they want and never seem to have a problem with digestion or heartburn. They either have a stomach made out of steel or they have a stockpile of Tums in their professionally packed carry-on suitcase. I'll tell you it's the latter. Tums are your best friend. Have an open mind when trying new foods. If you think about that spider on a stick covered in sweet and sour sauce too much, you'll never be able to eat it. Pack your Tums but don't miss unforgettable culinary experiences!
